RVs & Trailers

Use an RV Cover

If storing your RV uncovered, invest in a breathable RV cover to prevent mold and mildew.

Secure Your Wheels

Chock the front and rear wheels and leave the parking brake off. For tent trailers, lower the tongue to slope the roof, allowing rain and snow to run off.

Tire Care

Inflate RV tires to their maximum cold pressure and consider covering them to protect against UV rays.

Prevent Flat Spots

If storing long-term, periodically move your RV to prevent flat spots on the tires.

Sun Protection

Shut window blinds to prevent fading of drapes, upholstery, and carpet from sun exposure.

Inspect Seals

Regularly inspect the roof, body seams, and window seals for potential cracks where water can seep in and cause damage.

Turn Off Appliances

Turn off all LP gas appliances and cover any exposed regulators to protect them from weather conditions.

Winterization

Winterize the Plumbing System: Drain all water from the tanks and pipes, then run RV antifreeze through the entire plumbing system to prevent freezing.

Seal and Protect Exterior Components: Inspect and reseal windows and roof seams, then cover your RV with a breathable, waterproof cover to shield it from winter weather.

Boats

Thorough Cleaning

Clean your boat thoroughly before storage, removing barnacles and gunk from the hull and propellers.

Hull Support

Use jack stands, blocks, a custom cradle, or your own trailer to support the hull properly, maintaining its shape. If using a trailer, consider placing jack stands under the axles to relieve the load on tires and bearings.

Tire Protection

Cover the tires to shield them from UV rays.

Protective Tarp

Use a mold-resistant fabric tarp to protect your boat from staining and weather elements.

Fuel Management

Fill the fuel tank completely to reduce condensation build-up and add a fuel stabilizer to preserve the fuel and engine.

Oil and Coolant Maintenance

Change the oil, replace filters, flush the coolant system, and add antifreeze.

Engine Protection

Apply fogging oil to the engine to form a protective film on components that may be affected by oil drainage over months of non-use.

Remove Electronics

Take out the battery and all electronic equipment and store them in a warm, dry place.

Winterization

Drain and Protect the Engine: Completely drain water from the engine and bilge, then flush with antifreeze and apply fogging oil to prevent freezing and corrosion.

Cover and Secure Your Boat: Use a durable, mold-resistant cover to protect your boat from snow and rain, ensuring it’s securely fastened and allows proper ventilation.
